AFF Level 1 – Introduction to Freefall

Jump Sequence

Take up position in the door
Check with both instructors
Exit count – out, in, ARCH
HASP (heading, altimeter, secondary, primary) – respond to signals
Three practice pulls
Free time whilst maintaining altitude and heading awareness
7000 ft – anticipate deployment
6000 ft – wave off followed by reach, locate, PULL

AFF Level 2 – Forward Movement

Jump Sequence

Take up position in the door
Check with both instructors
Exit count – out, in, ARCH
HASP – respond to signals
Two practice pulls
Five seconds of forward movement
Free time whilst maintaining altitude and heading awareness
7000 ft – anticipate deployment
6000 ft – wave off followed by reach, locate, PULL

Note: Secondary instructor may release after completion of forward movement if the formation is in control.

AFF Level 3 – Release Dive

Jump Sequence

Take up position in the door
Check with both instructors
Exit count – out, in, ARCH
HASP – respond to signals
One practice pull
Secondary instructor release followed by primary
Free time whilst maintaining altitude and heading awareness
7000 ft – anticipate deployment
6000 ft – wave off followed by reach, locate, PULL

AFF Level 4 – Stop and Start Turns

Jump sequence

Take up position in the door
Check with instructor
Exit count – out, in, ARCH
Instructor moves around the front and faces off student
Student relays altitude
Respond to signals
Instructor release followed by 90 degree turns in both directions
6,500 ft – student to shake head for no more work
5,500 ft – wave off followed by reach, locate, PULL

AFF Level 5 – Turn in both directions

Jump Sequence

Take up center float position in the door
Check with instructor
Exit count – up, down, ARCH
Instructor moves around the front and faces off student
Student relays altitude
Respond to signals
Instructor release followed by 360 degree turns in both directions
6,500 ft – student to shake head for no more work
5,500 ft – wave off followed by reach, locate, PULL

AFF Level 6 – Solo dive exit, back loop and tracking

Jump Sequence

Instructor climbs out and student takes up position in the door
Check with instructor
Exit count – ready, set, GO (solo dive)
Instructor moves to the front and signals the back loop
Student completes one back loop
Instructor moves to the side and signals the track (if above 7000 ft)
Student adopts the position and tracks for five seconds
6000 ft – student shakes head for no more work
5000 ft – wave off followed by reach, locate, PULL

Note: Only one attempt at the back loop and track are to be performed unless directed otherwise by the instructor

AFF Level 7 – Consolidated jump

Jump Sequence

Instructor climbs out and student takes up position in the door
Check with instructor
Exit count – ready, set, GO
Student carries out jump whilst monitoring altitude awareness
1 x back loop
2 x 360 degree turns in both directions
5 second track with a track turn (if above 7000 ft)
5,500 ft – student shakes head for no more work
4,500 ft – wave off followed by reach, locate, PULL

AFF Level 8 – Qualifying Jump from 5000 ft

Jump Sequence

Student takes up the position in the door
Exit count – ready, set, GO
Student to exit, clear and pull stable within ten seconds

Note: On completion of the AFF course students must complete 10 consolidation jumps and the requirements for CH (Canopy Handling) Grade 1 before being awarded a BPA A License.
